Properly Sized Ductwork is Paramount to a Smoothly Operating HVAC System
Improperly sized ducts will provide too little airflow and reduce the efficiency of your HVAC system, resulting in uncomfortable and/or inconsistent temperatures within your home or business.
Undersized Ducts – When your ducts are too small, your HVAC system will be forced to work harder in order to pump the hot or cold air throughout your vents. Some possible damages due to undersized ducts include wear and tear on the equipment such as motor or compressor failure, increased repair issues, a shorter lifespan of the equipment, and increased utility costs.
Oversized Ducts – When your ducts are too large, the air is not sufficiently pushed through the vents and results in inconsistent temperatures (such as hot and cold spots) and poor ventilation and stuffy air.
How do you know if your ducts need to be re-sized?
Proper duct sizing is a complex process best left to one of our trained professionals. It relies on a complicated formula that takes into consideration the size of your home, the size of your HVAC system, the necessary air flow velocity, friction loss rate, and static pressure of your HVAC system.
